suckering, harvesting and other good -ings!

We had another fun garden night on Tuesday, June 12. We learned how to sucker the tomato plants, we harvested over 60 heads of lettuce again and gave the garden a good soaking. Mary, Theresa, and Rita O'Brian joined us for part of the evening to check out the garden.

We also planted some flowers and gathered and planted the Blue dent popcorn for the Three Sisters Garden.

We donated about 30 heads of lettuce to Sarah's again and the gardeners and the O'Brian sisters took about 30 to enjoy. Heads harvested last week are already coming up again! We topped the basil and got to take some of that home as well.

See you next Tuesday!

Planting and Lettuce Harvest

On May 22, the Community Garden night had over 20 people participating in planting, weeding, cultivating and just generally having a swell time! We planted cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, peas, beans, basil, tomatoes, and let's not forget the fabulous herb boa!

We are also planting a Three Sisters Garden once again! Here is Jennifer explaining to some gardeners about how it grows.

On June 5, we harvested the first lettuce!!! 65 heads of lettuce were harvested and about 40 heads were donated to Sarah's, An Oasis for Women. As for the rest, the community gardeners enjoyed those!

Gotta love the beauty of the garden!

See you Tuesday!
